Proclaim or PraisePad Present?

For the booth and the pastor of a church of 150, with the slides built during the week.

Proclaim is cloud-based presentation software from Logos: the whole team edits Sunday’s presentation from anywhere, unlimited installs on one subscription, lyrics from SongSelect, sermon recording and publishing with the Logos Bible tools. PraisePad Present builds the slides from the service plan and the pastor’s own notes, runs in the browser, and carries the schedule, the songs and the stage with it: free in the beta. Here’s what each does better, what each costs, and whether to stay or switch.

From $14 a month for a team of 10. Free for invited churches during the beta.

What Proclaim does better

  • Cloud editing by the whole team, with unlimited installs on one subscription
  • The Logos integration: Bible tools and the library for sermons and Scripture
  • Sermon publishing and podcast sharing, with a good media library
  • Sections with recording start and stop, and Pre-service loops
  • Live streaming built in

Not in PraisePad yet: livestreaming of its own, an app in the stores.

Bringing your songs over

  • Your charts come in from PDFs, Word files, photos or SongSelect downloads, read into typed charts you check before they’re saved
  • Present makes the lyric slides from the set list, with the CCLI line on each song’s first slide
  • A PowerPoint drops onto a part of the slides and comes in as slides you can edit; Proclaim’s own files don’t come across

Stay or switch?

Stay with Proclaim if the Logos library, its media and its sermon publishing are what your pastor leans on, and your team edits from several desktops.

Move to PraisePad if you’d rather the slides came from the plan and the pastor’s notes, the booth ran from a browser, and one price covered the church.

Questions

Is there a Proclaim alternative that runs in a browser?

PraisePad Present runs in the browser on any computer: lyric slides from the set list, Scripture, announcements, the pastor’s screen, lobby looks and the words for your livestream, with nothing to install. It’s in beta: free, by request; founding churches pay $9 a month at launch, for the whole church.

Proclaim vs ProPresenter: where does PraisePad sit?

Proclaim edits in the cloud and installs on every desktop; ProPresenter is a per-seat desktop install with hardware outputs. PraisePad builds the slides from the service plan and the pastor’s notes and runs them from a browser, for the church rather than a seat. ProPresenter has a page of its own here.

What is church presentation software in the cloud?

Software where the presentation is edited from anywhere and shown from the booth. Proclaim does it with a desktop app and a cloud account; PraisePad does it in the browser, so the leader plans from home, the pastor’s part is theirs to fill with a due date, and the booth opens the same service on Sunday.

From the help: Present: owners, due dates and guests

Can PraisePad publish sermons like Proclaim?

Yes. Record the sermon from the sound desk, trim it, and publish it with a cover, a transcript, captions and a recap to your church’s own site, where each speaker has a page. The recap also drafts an email, three posts and a handout.
